Equipment Foundations
Concrete Pad Installation in Conroe & Montgomery County
AC units, generators, hot tubs, and sheds all need a solid, level foundation underneath them. A properly poured concrete pad keeps equipment stable, protects it from ground moisture, and lasts decades.
The Service
What Is a Concrete Pad?
A concrete pad is a small to mid-sized slab poured specifically to support equipment, structures, or outdoor features. Common applications include HVAC condenser units, standby generators, hot tubs and spas, storage sheds, outdoor kitchens, trash enclosures, and RV or boat parking areas. The pad provides a level, stable surface that distributes weight evenly and keeps equipment off bare ground.
Installation begins with site assessment — determining pad size, thickness, and reinforcement based on the load it will carry. An AC pad supporting a 200-pound condenser needs different engineering than a hot tub pad holding 4,000+ pounds of water and people. We excavate, compact the subgrade, set forms to grade with proper slope for drainage, place reinforcement, and pour.
In Montgomery County’s clay soils, subgrade preparation is critical. Clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, creating movement that can crack undersized or unreinforced pads. We compact in lifts and use gravel base where needed to create a stable foundation beneath the concrete.
Our concrete pads provide a stable, level foundation for air conditioning units, generators, hot tubs, storage sheds, outdoor kitchens, and other equipment. Every pad is poured with proper thickness and reinforcement for the specific load it will support, graded for drainage away from your home, and finished for a clean, professional appearance that complements your property.

Our Process
How We Handle Every Project
Load Assessment & Sizing
Determine pad dimensions and thickness based on what it will support. AC pads, generator pads, and hot tub pads all have different load requirements. We size each pad to its specific application.
Subgrade Prep & Pour
Excavate, compact in lifts on clay soil, set forms to grade with drainage slope away from the house. Reinforced with fiber mesh or rebar depending on load. Poured and finished the same day.
Finish & Equipment-Ready
Broom finish for standard utility pads or smooth trowel for visible locations. Control joints where needed. Most pads are ready for equipment placement in 3–7 days depending on load.
The Difference
Why Choose Creative Concrete Designs for Concrete Pads
Firefighter-owned and operated by Michael Goff. Discipline, accountability, and pride on every pour across Montgomery County.
Right-Sized for the Load
Every pad is engineered for what it will actually support. An AC condenser pad, a 5,000-pound hot tub pad, and a generator pad all get different thickness and reinforcement specifications. No one-size-fits-all approach.
Drainage-Conscious Placement
Pads are graded to slope water away from your home’s foundation and away from the equipment they support. Standing water around an AC unit or generator shortens equipment life and invites foundation problems.
Clay Soil Expertise
Montgomery County’s expansive clay is the #1 reason pads crack and settle. Proper excavation depth, subgrade compaction in lifts, and gravel base where needed prevent the movement that breaks undersized pads.
Clean, Professional Results
A concrete pad doesn’t have to be an eyesore. Clean formed edges, consistent thickness, and a finished surface that complements your property — not a sloppy afterthought.
Common Questions
Pads FAQ
How thick should a concrete pad be for an AC unit?
A standard AC condenser pad should be 4 inches thick minimum. The pad should extend at least 3 inches beyond the unit on all sides for stability and service access. Fiber mesh reinforcement is standard. For larger commercial-style units, we may recommend 5 inches.
Can you pour a concrete pad for a hot tub?
Yes. Hot tub pads require more engineering than standard equipment pads because of the weight involved. A filled hot tub with occupants can exceed 4,000–5,000 pounds. We typically pour 5–6 inches with rebar reinforcement on 12–18 inch centers to handle that load safely.
How big should a generator pad be?
The pad should extend at least 6 inches beyond the generator on all sides. For a typical whole-house standby generator, that means a pad roughly 4x3 feet. Thickness is 4–5 inches with fiber mesh. We also ensure the pad is positioned per manufacturer clearance requirements from walls and windows.
Do I need a concrete pad for a storage shed?
A concrete pad under a shed prevents ground moisture from rotting the floor, keeps the shed level as soil shifts, and deters pests. For sheds over 100 square feet, a poured pad is a worthwhile investment. Smaller sheds can sometimes use precast blocks, but a poured pad lasts longer and stays more level.
How long does it take to pour a concrete pad?
Most concrete pads are completed in a single day — excavation, forming, pour, and finish. Smaller AC or generator pads may take just a few hours. The concrete needs 3–7 days before placing heavy equipment on it, depending on the load.
How much does a concrete pad cost?
Concrete pad pricing depends on size, thickness, and site conditions. A standard AC pad runs $300–$600. Larger pads for hot tubs, sheds, or outdoor kitchens range from $800–$2,500+. We provide exact pricing at the estimate — no guesswork.
